Anna in Parliament

Parliamentary Roles and Responsibilities

I am a member of the Environmental Audit Select Committee. The Committee's remit will allow us to consider the extent to which governmental policies contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development and to audit their performance and targets. Being a member of this committee will enable me to hold the Government to account on issues of this nature.

I am also a member of the Welsh Affairs Committee. Its terms of reference are to examine matters within the responsibility of the Secretary of State for Wales (including relations with the National Assembly for Wales). In practice, the Committee examines policies of the UK Government which have an impact in Wales (for example strategic transport, welfare and defence).

All Party Parliamentary Groups

I am a member of a number of All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs). These groups bring together MPs from different parties with an interest in a particular topic to share information and campaign on key issues relevant to the topic. I have joined these APPGs, either because they are directly relevant to Cardiff North, it's population and issues, or because constituents have asked me to join a group that is particularly important to them, or they cover a longstanding interest of mine.

I am currently a member of the following APPGs:

  • Ageing and Older People
  • Animal Welfare
  • Bees
  • Better Brexit for Young People
  • Children in Wales
  • Climate Change
  • Dementia
  • Electric Vehicles
